Frequently Asked Questions
How much does treatment cost?
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the issue that you are looking for help with, and what you want to get out of therapy. During a free introductory call, I am happy to have a discussion about the particular problem that that you are looking for help with, and will give you a rough estimate of how many sessions it may take us to help you to reach your goal.

According to the NICE guidelines, and NHS Talking Therapies services, the average number of CBT or EMDR sessions that people find beneficial tends to be approximately 8-16 sessions, however, due to the flexibility inherent in private therapy, I am able to offer more sessions if needed. We will book in regular therapy reviews to make sure that you are finding the sessions helpful and productive.

What is your current waiting time?
I have therapy and supervision sessions at the moment, and am able to begin working with you within one or two weeks.
Please be aware that this could be a little longer, depending on your preference for the day/time when you would like to be seen. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your requirements.

Are my sessions confidential?
Yes - I maintain your confidentiality and keep information about you safe and secure. I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office for UK GDPR.
There are some limits to confidentiality. I discuss my client work with my clinical supervisor for advice and guidance. I may be required to break confidentiality if I consider that there is a risk you may harm yourself or others. I will always attempt to discuss this with you beforehand.

What times/days do you offer sessions?
I offer CBT and EMDR sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. I do not work on Fridays.

I offer most sessions between 9am and 5pm. I do work later on a Monday and Thursday, so do please contact me to discuss my evening availability.

Most people I work with tend to have a regular, weekly session slot at the same time on the same day. However, I can also offer some flexibility if you do not have a predictable diary week to week.

How often should I have sessions?
Evidence suggests that weekly sessions are most effective, particularly in the beginning stages of therapy. Weekly sessions help us to get started quickly, and keep the momentum of your progress going.

However, I know that some people may not be able to attend weekly due to financial constraints, or due to work/life commitments. Therefore, fortnightly sessions may also be a possibility. Please do contact me to discuss this option further if it would fit better for you.

Towards the end of our sessions, we may agree to space the sessions out. This can help people to gain confidence in independently applying the skills they have learnt, and continuing with the changes that they have made, but knowing that they have the safety net of another session coming up to discuss any challenges or hiccups!
Research suggests that remote/video EMDR and CBT are as effective as face to face EMDR and CBT.

I offer online video EMDR and CBT sessions via Microsoft Teams or Skype. Please ensure that you have good wi-fi signal, and some familiarity with Teams or Skype to ensure that we can spend our session time on treatment, rather than troubleshooting technical difficulties!
